NORWAY — Businesses on Main Street have agreed to extending their store hours to 7 p.m. four Fridays in December as part of Holiday Nights.

The promotion is a partnership between Norway Downtown and the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

On Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22, businesses will be open two hours longer and offer customers services such as gift wrapping, refreshments, gift basket drawings and family workshops for children. The family workshops will be held by different businesses from 5 to 6 p.m.

On Dec. 1, Sew Orchid Design LLC will offer a free workshop to families on how to make their own felt ornament.

On Dec. 8, Happi Chicks Bake Shop will lead a workshop on how to decorate Christmas cookies.

Fiber & Vine will show families how to make their own wrapping paper on Dec. 15, while Food for Thought will offer readings of Christmas stories on Dec. 22.

In addition to extended shopping hours, residents can also enjoy a holiday parade led by Santa and Mrs. Claus on Dec. 1.

The parade will begin at 5:45 p.m. on Beal Street, continue down Main Street to the Advertiser Democrat, turn left on Pikes Hill and a right to Water Street and end at Butters Park near the flagpole.

Parks and Recreation Director Deb Partridge said refreshments will be provided by the Norway Firemen’s Relief Association.
