WATERVILLE — The UMaine-Farmington women’s basketball team landed on Lesley College, 71-51 Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Thomas College Tip-off Classic.
The Beavers move to 2-0 overall while Lesley falls to 0-3 early in the 2017-18 season.
McKenna Brodeur tied Theresa Pereira with 16 points. Brodeur was 6-17 shooting and 4-4 at the free-throw line to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, and seven steals.
Sara Lamb finished with 11 points off the bench on 4-8 shooting with two 3-pointers and six assists.
Emilee Eustis finished with nine points on 2-3 from the field with five free throws, while Paige Carter finished with eight points with seven rebounds.
Theresa Pereira finished with 16 points for Lesley on 5-13 shooting with and 3-7 from behind the arc with three free throws.
Linda Wallentine and Dakota Jones each had 10 points while Jones had a double-double with 14 rebounds. Wallentine finished with seven rebounds and three assists.
The Beavers finished the game with a 36.9 percent shooting (24-65), 35.7 percent from three-point land (5-14) and 75 percent at the free-throw line (18-24).
The Beavers notched 43 rebounds, 16 assists, and 12 steals, while Lesley had 50 rebounds, 12 assists and eight steals.
Saturday’s game
UMF 73, Fisher 68
WORCESTER, Mass. — UMaine-Farmington slipped away from Fisher College with a 73-68 win on Saturday night to win its season opener at the Thomas Tip-off Tournament.
Morgan Crocker led all scorers with 27 points on 9-16 shooting with two 3-pointers and 7-9 at the free-throw line. Crocker added six rebounds and three steals.
Jenessa Talarico and McKenna Brodeur each had 11 points. Talarico went 4-8 from the field and 3-7 from behind the arc. Brodeur went 5-9 from the floor with nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Sara Lamb added nine points off the bench for the Beavers with two 3-pointers and seven rebounds. Kasey Talarico scored her first five points of her collegiate career on 2-3 from the floor.
Tiana Bowser had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds along with Murphy Carroll who also added 10 points on shooting 4-14 from the floor.
Madison Carroll had team-high in points for Fisher with 23 on 9-20 shooting, 3-8 from behind the arc and 2-3 at the free-throw line.
The Beavers shot 47.4 percent from the floor (27-57), 53.3 percent from three-point land (8-15) and 61.1 percent at the free-throw line.
UMF notched 47 rebounds, 15 assists and four steals, while Fisher had 30 rebounds, 13 assists and 11 steals.

Saturday’s game
Dean 89, UMF 86
WORCESTER, Mass.. — Dean College shook off stubborn University of Maine at Farmington with an 89-86 consolation victory in the Ted Coghlin Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
Riley Robinson and Milani Hicks led the Beavers with 21 points each. Robinson shot 6-15 from the floor with two 3’s while going 7-11 at the charity stripe. Hicks shots 8-13 from the floor and one 3- pointer while hitting all four free throws. Combined Hicks and Robinson had seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.
Issac Witham finished with 19 points after going 8-13 with two 3’s and one free-throw.
Eric Berry finished with 10 points on 3-5 shooting with one three and 3-4 from the free-throw line.
Dayvon Russell led all scorers with 28 points on 8-20 from the floor, 4-10 from three-point land and 8-10 at the free-throw line. Jordan Booker finished with 18 points while Randolf Thurman came in off the bench and finished with 12 points.
Armani Baker added nine points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs shot 49.2 percent from the floor on 30-61, 9-21 from the three-point line (42.9 percent) and shot 83.3 percent from the free-throw line (20-24).
The Beavers finished the day with 54.4 percent shooting (31-57), 54.5 from the three-point line (6-11) and 69.2 percent from the charity stripe.
The Beavers tallied 30 rebounds, 14 assists, five steals and four blocks while the Bulldogs finished with 34 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals, and seven blocks.
Friday’s game
WPI 96, UMF 62
WORCESTER, Mass. – UMaine-Farmington lost to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 96-62, in the opening game of the Ted Coghlin Memorial Tournament on Friday.
Riley Robinson led all scorers with 26 points on 7-13 from the floor along with shooting 3-6 from three-point land.
Milani Hicks added 17 points on 4-6 from the floor with 9-10 at the free-throw line. Hicks added seven rebounds and three steals.
John Williams added seven points off the bench after going perfect from the floor (2-2), 1-1 from three-point land and 2-2 at the free-throw line.
Jake Needleman scored 18 off the bench on six 3-pointers.
Garrett Stephenson scored eight points to go with eight rebounds while Dakota Wheeler scored nine points.
