BATH — Thornton Williams, 78, of Rangeley and Bath, passed away with his family at his side Friday, Nov. 17, at his home in Bath.
Born to Burleigh and Leonice (Cushing) Williams, “Poody,” as he was known to his friends and family, was a 1957 graduate of Morse High School. He married the love of his life, Ivy Katherine Picken, in 1958, and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary together.
Throughout his life, Poody was an avid hunter and fisherman, a passion he was able to continue after he and Kathy relocated to Rangeley in 1986. Other hobbies included woodworking, bluegrass music and playing guitar. Poody was a member of several fraternal organizations including the Elks, the Shrine and he was raised as a Freemason on Oct. 29, 1975.
Predeceased by his parents and a stepfather, Elmer Morse, Poody is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Kellie Murphy; son, Darren Williams and his wife, Laura; grandchildren, Sarah and Kayla Murphy and Cody Williams; his stepbrother, Edward Morse and his wife, Joyce; nephews, Stephen and Eric Morse; and 10 great-grandchildren.
