LEWISTON — The annual Twin Cities Holiday Celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, and will include tree lightings in Lewiston and then in Auburn.
Santa Claus will light the Christmas tree at Kennedy Park in Lewiston at 5 p.m., and will be available for pictures. There will be free snacks and free mittens.
At 6 p.m., the Parade of Lights will leave Kennedy Park and walk down Park Street toward Main Street, turn left on Main and left again on Lisbon Street. From there, the parade will turn right on Chestnut and left on Canal.
The parade will then take a right on Cedar and proceed across the bridge to Broad Street in Auburn, turning right on Mill Street and then right on Main Street, ending at Festival Plaza in downtown Auburn.
The parade is expected to take about an hour and when it arrives in Auburn, Santa will be there to light the Christmas tree and the menorah in the plaza. There will be a sing-along, and winners of the float and window decorating contests will be announced.
In addition to the tree lightings and parade, the festival will include:
• In Lewiston, “A look at the Nutcracker” by the Dance Center at the Lewiston Public Library at 3:30 p.m.
• And, in Auburn, a showing of the movie “Elf” at the Auburn Public Library at 2 p.m. and story time at the library at 5 p.m.
• There will be holiday music and horse and wagon rides at Festival Plaza starting at 5:30 p.m.
During the Parade of Lights, the city of Lewiston will close Park, Lisbon, Chestnut, Cedar and Main streets until the parade crosses over to Auburn.
