Heating program offered

LEWISTON — Catholic Charities Maine has announced that it will offer a heating assistance program, Spread the Warmth, for local families this winter.

Members of the community may nominate individuals and families who need a new heating system but can’t afford one. The homeowner will receive and have installed a new furnace or boiler free of charge before Dec. 25.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, Nov. 24.

Donations to Catholic Charities may also be used to help families pay for their heating fuel.

Catholic Charities will be supported by Murray-Heutz Oil and Propane.

Hospital selling ornaments for fundraiser 

RUMFORD — Rumford Hospital has announced the launch of its third annual Christmas Giving Tree fundraiser. The event, which begins the week of Thanksgiving and continues through Christmas, has raised over $3,400 for hospital programs.

Donors can purchase an ornament for $10 in honor or memory of a friend or loved one.

Local businesses can opt to sponsor the Christmas Giving Tree for $100 and receive recognition of their sponsorship in the newspaper, on social media and on the Rumford Hospital website.

Each ornament purchased will be hung on the Christmas Giving Tree, located in the main lobby of the hospital.

All donations will benefit the Rumford Hospital Equipment Fund, from wheelchairs to state-of-the-art life-saving equipment.
