AUBURN — Aletha L. Blackmore, 94, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, at her home. She was born in Greene on June 2, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Louise Additon Meade. The family moved to Auburn in 1931, where she attended the Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School, Class of ’40.

She attended Bliss Business College, then worked in personal finance, Bates College alumni office. She decided to change careers, so attended the University of Maine, Orono, graduating Class of ’48. Aletha also worked for the Auburn School Department as a home economics teacher. In July of ’48, she married Benjamin Blackmore, who was predeceased by her. They operated a dairy farm in Auburn for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and being “Aunt Lee” to many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Court Street Baptist Church.
