TOWNSEND, Mass. — Claire B. (Dube) Potvin, 76, of Townsend, Mass., died peacefully with her family at her side at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, Mass., on Nov. 12.

Claire was born in Lewiston on Jan. 22, 1941, daughter of the late Aurele and Dora (Marquis) Dube. She grew up in Lewiston and attended the Lewiston schools.

Claire is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph R. Potvin; two sons, Gil Potvin and his wife, Karen of Merrimack, N.H., and Raymond Potvin and his partner, Laurie Daniels of Leominster, Mass. She was a beloved Memere to her four grandchildren, of whom she was so very proud: Erika Potvin and her partner, Tim King, of Nashua, N.H., Nicholas Potvin and his partner, Katelyn Nicosia, of Nashua, N.H., Ross Potvin of Leominster and Ryan Potvin of Leominster.

Claire is also survived by her two sisters, Pauline Ouellette of Auburn and Louise Poulin and her husband, Don, of Lewiston; sister-in-law, Dot Levasseur of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Jerry Potvin and his wife, Corrine of Wichita, Kan.; Sherry Potvin, mother of Ross and Ryan, of Leominster, Mass.; many cousins, nieces and nephews of Lewiston/Auburn; and numerous dear friends.

Through their 26 years in the Air Force, Joe and Claire were stationed in many locations, including England, Norway, Rome, N.Y., Chicopee, Mass., and finally, Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Mass. During her time at Hanscom, Claire was the director of the kitchen for the child care center where she was able to combine her love for cooking and children.

Upon Joe’s retirement from the Air Force as a master sergeant in November 1980, they settled in Townsend. Claire loved working at Cliff’s Diner in Townsend and later running Janet’s Hot Dog stand in Fitchburg. She and her husband are longtime parishioners at St. John’s Church in Townsend.

Claire was known to light up a room and easily befriended everyone she met. Her loving and warm personality touched the lives of so many. Claire loved to spend time with her family and was always in attendance for her grandchildren’s sporting events, school plays and graduations. In addition to spending time with her family, Claire enjoyed spending time in their RV, lovingly named “The Princess.” She loved the annual summer trips to the Powderhorn Campgrounds and Hampton Beach with her grandchildren. Claire also had a love for shopping, going to lunch and enjoying trips with her many close friends.
