FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Players will present a two-act comedy “Greater Tuna” by Joe Sears and Jaston Williams on Nov. 9 through 12 at Mt. Blue High School Forum.

The play was originally conceived and performed by the two authors playing all 22 characters. Director Peter Simmel, former professor of theater at the University of Maine at Farmington, is repeating a concept he used at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., when he cast the play with multiple actors to fill the many roles.

Co-author Joe Sears came to see Simmel’s production and said he liked the concept. The Sandy River Players cast is made up of 17 actors, including high school students, retirees, college professors and people who travel from Dixfield, Vienna and Auburn to participate.

There is some adult language.

“Greater Tuna” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 10 and 11, and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 12. General admission is $14; seniors and students pay $10.

Tickets may be purchased at the door, at DDG Booksellers in downtown Farmington or at 207.779.7884.

Complimentary tickets are being offered by SRP to winners of the Dugout Bar and Grill Trivia night on Tuesday, Nov. 7, and to lucky callers who respond to ads on local radio station WKTJ. That ad will be recorded by actors Bruce Ibarguen and Robin Lisherness, who fill the roles of radio announcers in the play. This is no big stretch for Ibarguen, who for many years was a notable voice of WKTJ.
