CHESTERVILLE — Natural Resources Conservation Service is seeking members of the community to participate in a conversation about allocating USDA funding.
Franklin County individuals, foresters, farmers, community members and others will tasked with the annual job of identifying priority areas of concern in each district or county.
Next, the areas of concern will prioritized as to how USDA funding will be assigned to do work to help alleviate the problems. Allocation of local funds for the implementation of conservation programs under the 2014 Farm Bill will come from these decisions.
Agricultural producers; private woodland owners; members of environmental or watershed organizations or land trusts; those who are knowledgeable in soil, water, plant, wetland or wildlife sciences; those who are familiar with agricultural and natural resource concerns in Franklin County are sought to participate in the conversation.
This year the meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Chesterville Town office, 409 Dutch Gap Road.
Reservations are required by Wednesday, Nov. 8.
