NAPLES, Fla. — Nancy E. Dykes, 83, a resident of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, Oct. 20, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Nancy was born in Kennebunk to George and Ruby (Spiller) Kimball. She grew up in Kennebunk and graduated from Kennebunk High School. Nancy enjoyed spending many weekends in Waterboro at Little Ossipee Lake at the family camp.
Nancy met Darryl Dykes in Portland at a dance and they eventually married. While Darryl was in the Navy, they lived in many different places in the United States, eventually making their way back to Maine and settling in the Lisbon, Lewiston and Portland areas.
Nancy worked for a number of years at Liberty Mutual. After her husband passed away in 1993 and after retiring from Liberty Mutual, she moved to Naples, Fla., to be near her son, Gary.
During her retirement she taught computer lessons to retirees and kept busy researching family history and genealogy. She also worked for her son’s business keeping the books.
In addition to her husband, Nancy was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Gilbert and Donald; and one sister, Verna.
Nancy is survived by one son, Gary Dykes; a brother, Joel Kimball; and many nieces and nephews.
