Citizens of Maine are rightly upset that their legislators have failed to enact most of the referendums that were passed by popular vote last November. A recent comment by Jason Levesque at the Auburn mayoral debate suggested that Auburn residents might be in for more of the same disregard for voter sovereignty at the local level if he is elected mayor. He said he would not serve if the citizen’s initiative passed. Auburn would then suffer without a mayor for several months until a new expensive election took place. Auburn would be the laughingstock of the state.
Adam Lee has pledged to work to uphold all laws passed by the city and its citizens and, through trust and transparency, to make Auburn a better place to live and work.
Auburn needs a mayor who makes pledges like that.
