Lewiston is blessed to have a wide range of engaged citizens with passion for their city. The diversity reflected by people’s passions often gives rise to conflict. Conflict is unavoidable in a vibrant community. The challenge is to manage the conflict in ways that strengthen the community, not further divide it.

Lewiston voters have the opportunity to choose a mayor on Nov. 7. I hope they will choose Mark Cayer. He has proven repeatedly that he will manage the inevitable conflict civilly, with respect and with the sincere goal of leading the city forward. He will help maximize the positive outcomes and reunite the city to confront future challenges successfully.
