LEWISTON — There is no candidate on the ballot for the Ward 6 Lewiston School Committee seat, a position being vacated by Matthew Roy.

Because no one is running to fill Roy’s spot, it will be up to whoever is  Lewiston’s mayor on Jan. 2, to appoint a committee member when the seat officially becomes vacant, City Clerk Kathy Montejo said.

The nomination would have to be approved by the City Council.

After the Nov. 7 election, any person who lives in Ward 6 interested in being considered for nomination to the School Committee should write a letter to the incoming mayor.

After the new mayor selects his appointment, it will be on the next City Council agenda for action.
