My wife and I inherited a major water problem when we moved to Lewiston. In times of heavy rain, we have a lake in our backyard. The problem dates back to the 1980s when neighbors installed swimming pools that blocked the drainage flow. The city of Lewiston required homeowners to install a pipe to drain the water, which was then not inspected.

When I contacted the city, I was told that it was a private matter. I was frustrated and called Shane Bouchard. He came to my house on a Sunday to listen to my problem.

As a member of the Public Works Committee, he made more progress on the issue than I had in six years.

It’s rare to find a public official that will go out of his way to help his constituents. I am confident Shane Bouchard will continue to serve above and beyond as Lewiston’s mayor.
