AUBURN — Brian K. Thurlow, 59, formerly of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, at the Androscoggin Hospice in Auburn. He died peacefully with loving family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on April 14, 1958, a son of the late Kendall L. Thurlow and late Betty J. (Taylor) Thurlow.
He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1986.
In 1979, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was a law enforcement patrolman and a law enforcement instructor until his honorable discharge in 1987.
Brian loved to cook and eat everything that was different, always experimenting. He decorated cakes, and made many wedding cakes. Brian enjoyed gardening. He loved to grow roses. He also enjoyed knitting, traveling and roller coasters.
Brian is survived by his two sisters, Carmen Freitas of Poland Spring, husband John, and daughter Nicole of Lewiston, Valerie Morrison of North Carolina, husband Earl, and sons Andrew Hood and Brent Hood. Many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brian worked at Food Town in Auburn for many years and worked at Marcal Paper Mill in Mechanic Falls. He worked at Nichols in South Portland up until his death.
He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew, Cory Freitas.
