LEWISTON — Raymond R. Ainaire, 70, of Turner, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family, following a short illness.
He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 28, 1946, to the late Romeo R. and Mary I. (Holtz) Ainaire. A graduate of Lewiston High School, Ray retired from General Electric after 35 years. He was involved for many years in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Troop 187 of Turner, eventually becoming scoutmaster.
Ray loved to hunt and fish with his sons, brothers and sister-in-law and nephews and nieces. He loved to play cards and the game Petanque, most often playing in Florida where he won several medals. Ray loved to compete in all of his games, loved to dance, kayak, camp and read books to his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Nicole Pratte Ainaire; two sons, Dave R. Ainaire and Jason R. Ainaire and his wife, Julia; six grandchildren, Brianna Mathieu (Robert), Casey Ainaire, Ashley Bernier (Brandon), Aaron Ainaire, Alexander Ainaire and Adrien Ainaire; two great-grandchildren, Karmen and Sophia; older brother, Ronald Ainaire (Janet); brothers- and sisters-in-law, Noel Pratte (deceased), Suzanne Garneau (Gerard), Constance Moquin (Guy), Marielle Pratte, Raymond Pratte (Vivian), Bertrand Pratte (Jeannine), Jacques Pratte (Diane), Helene Pratte, Reggie Pratte (Ellen) and Michael Pratte (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a twin brother, Richard.
