DEAR SUN SPOTS: Hillside Sports Club in Jay is once again gearing up for their annual Pumpkin Walk to take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the AYS building (formerly LFHS) in Livermore Falls. As always we’re looking for donations of pumpkins, bales of hay that will be returned and any appropriate decorations you would like to donate or let us borrow. We are hoping that by having the walk a few days after Halloween we will have more pumpkins to display. There will be pumpkin carving the morning of the walk for all ages from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pumpkins are provided. For more information, call 897-2122. — Janice, Manager of Hillside Sports Club

ANSWER: This year’s Pumpkin Walk is dedicated to two Hillside Sports Club members who are no longer with us, Bre Hewins and Beonka Kissinger. Both were instrumental in making the Pumpkin Walk a success. Here’s to hoping this year’s walk to be the best ever in their honor. There will be refreshments and “spooktacula” treats for all. Costumes aren’t necessary, but are encouraged. Save the date and join this organization for some family fun!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Friends of Tommy’s Feral Felines are always so generous to our kitty friends. Another chance to help us is coming up. Tommy’s will be holding a one-day bottle drive for both recyclable bottles and cans. Winter will soon be here and the need for financial help for these animals is great. The collection will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 707 Main St. in Lewiston by Chapter 11.

Monetary donations are also deeply appreciated. For further information or to make a donation, contact Norm Blais at (207) 240-8767, normblais@yahoo.com or write to P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236. Tommy’s and all of their feral kitties thank you for your help. — Norm, Greene

ANSWER: Tommy’s Feral Felines is an all-volunteer, no-kill organization, which receives no official funding and relies solely on the donations and income generated by its fund raising events. The staff works hard 365 days a year in all kinds of weather to support abandoned cats that live a feral existence. In addition to feeding and sheltering the cats, Tommy’s provides spaying and neutering, vaccinations and other medical care for the animals, many of which are too many generations feral to be adoptable.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for someone to do a large picture in counted cross-stitch. — Barbara, no town

ANSWER: I’m very curious about this request and I’m sure any cross-stitchers out there would like more information. Do you have a pattern or do you need something done “from scratch?” You may want to contact a local craft store to see if they know of a regular cross-stitch customer who would take on this project for you. Please let us know more of what you have in mind, Barbara!
