MEXICO — Anthony J. Provencher Sr., 76, of Mexico, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, at home, with his family by his side.
He was born in Mars Hill on June 28, 1941, to Roland and Pauline Hallett-Provencher. He was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1959, and then served his country for eight years.
Anthony worked for Owen steel of Florida until failing health brought him and his family back to Maine. On March 25, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Harlow, and raised four children together.
He will be fondly remembered for his great love of family and friends. Tony enjoyed dancing, football, old movies and spending time with family and friends. The love that he leaves with all of us is everlasting.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marlene; daughter, Laurie LaPointe and her husband, Dan of Mexico; sons, Anthony Provencher Jr. of Biddeford, and Troy Provencher and companion, Ashley of Rumford; daughter-in-law, Sue Provencher of Mexico; grandchildren, Angela Theriault and husband, Nick, Ray Martin, Kayla Provencher, Seth and Ian Provencher, Joseph, Peyton, Alicia and Michael Provencher; great-grandchildren, Alyvia and Dylan Theriault; brothers, Richard Provencher and his wife, Jane of Mexico, Terrance Provencher and wife, Gloria of Rumford, and Gregory Provencher and wife, Teena of Rumford; and many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Pauline; his son, Rick Provencher; grandson, Glendon Whyte Jr.; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Palmer; sisters, Joy Akers and Margo Alexander; brothers, Ronald and Dennis Provencher.
