I write with regard to Question 1, coming up on Nov. 7.
The public is being bombarded with very expensive whole-page advertising in newspapers and on television. The sponsors are trying to sweet talk people into voting for the proposed casino in York.
The campaign is being paid for by big-money interests from outside Maine. If it all sounds so good and looks so good, it cannot be so good.
I believe that the majority of the money gleaned from that casino will leave the state.
If Maine needs another casino, why not support one proposed by Maine’s Native American tribes, where the money would go for schools, etc., and the rest to native tribes?
Folks who don’t want to be bought by outside interests and money should join me in voting “no” on Question 1.
