LEWISTON — Dolard and Priscilla Gendron of Lewiston, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at the Lewiston Ramada Inn with family and friends. The couple was married on June 7, 1947 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

The special event started with a social hour serving cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner and dancing. Their son, George, helped with the master of ceremonies to congratulate his parents on their accomplishment of 70 years of marriage. More than 225 guests were in attendance.

Also in attendance was Marie Dehetre, the only surviving member of their wedding party. Guests came from all over the U.S., ranging from Ohio, Georgia, Florida, California and even Canada. Father Nadeau, a local Catholic priest, officiated at the event and at the renewal of vows.

The Gendrons have six children, George and his wife, Diane; Diane and her husband, Bob; David and his significant other, Sue; Mike and his significant other, Samantha. The two youngest, Celine and Steve, are now deceased. The couple is also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Del, as most people know him, started Gendron and Gendron Construction in 1971 and is currently retired, but still works with his front end loader three to four hours a day. Mrs. Gendron still exercises daily with an old Jack Lalane tape.

The special event finished a little after 11:30 p.m. with the Gendrons thanking everyone for coming.
