Right after the horrible tragedy in Las Vegas, it seems that everyone is on a gun control rant. Are elected officials going to stop airplanes from flying? That was the weapon used to take down New York City’s Twin Towers. How about car-truck bans? Vehicles were used to mow down and kill people in London and Paris.
What about pressure cookers? Bombs were made out of those in Boston, injuring hundreds.
And then there is fertilizer — that was what Timothy McVeigh used to kill more than 100 people when he blew up a federal building.
There are at least that many killings in Chicago every month, and the media are silent .
Last year 24,000 people died from drug overdoses. No outrage about that?
There will always be deranged people out there with vile intentions. They will always find some way to make their evil intentions happen, or at least try to.
Members of Congress need to step back and wait a while, let the emotions settle down before they act on any gun control methods. This country’s Constitution gives people the right to bear arms.
A government that wants to take that right away is a government scared of its citizens, and rightly so. After all, the people elected to the government serve at the will of the people.
