FAYETTE — Ida Leola Crocker, 86, a resident of Fayette, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, Oct. 11. She was born March 22, 1931, the daughter of Benjamin Smith and Leola (Curtis) Smith in Monmouth. She worked at Monmouth Market (Danforth’s Store), Chick’s Apple Orchards, Livermore Shoe and Carlton Woolen Mills. Miss Ida worked with her very dear friend, Pat Whitten, and they enjoyed going to Willie Nelson concerts. After retiring at 68 years young, she spent many years working alongside her youngest son, Marvin, and girlfriend, Ann Grenier, tending cattle and haying into her 80s. She enjoyed her family, canning and was well-known for her “zucchini relish,” which all family and friends enjoyed. She always greeted everyone with a smile and was known for her sense of humor and loved life to the fullest. She was a friend to all and a joy to be with.
She is survived by her children, Carl Crocker of Livermore, Leonard and Cathy Crocker of Monmouth, Rodney and Nancy Crocker of Jay, Donna and Jeffrey Hutchinson of Jay, Leroy and Tammy Crocker of Hebron, Marvin Crocker and his girlfriend, Ann Grenier of Fayette; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with another due in March 2018; her beloved cat, Milo; her brother, Wilbur Smith and his wife, Deloris; two sisters, Ruth Travers, and Nellie May and Ray Rolfe; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Lewis and Harry Smith; two sisters, Pauline Bragdon and Irene Bowden; half-brother, Clinton Smith; and half-sister, Helen Ridlon,
