HALLOWELL — The Harlow Gallery’s Bookey Readings at the Harlow will host an evening of song and poetry celebrating the late Russell Libby starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct.13. The Harlow Gallery is located at 160 Water St. A $3 donation is appreciated at the door to benefit the Harlow Gallery. Refreshments will be served.
This is a public reading in which people are invited to either read a poem by Russell Libby, or read a poem that honors the rich culture of Maine’s Community Supported Agriculture farming community which he so loved and supported through this work and art. Libby was past executive director of Maine Organic Farmers and Growers for 17 years. He was also a poet of local and national renown, published in many journals and anthologies. His full-length collections by Blackberry Press will be available for sale to benefit the Russell Libby Scholarship Awards program.
Stan Keach, friend to the Libby family, will provide music during the evening. Keach is a musician/song writer whose songs, known for their Maine humor and wonderful harmony, have been recorded by top bluegrass acts.
