LEWISTON — Therese Marie C. (Leblond) Vaillancourt, 93, of Sarah Frye Home, Auburn, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, September 19 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn after a short illness with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine, on October 3, 1923 the youngest child of Antonio Joseph and Marie Nathalie Aldea (Lemieux) Cloutier. She attended Sts. Peters & Paul School and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1942. She married Roger F. Leblond at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Lewiston, on April 29, 1950. He passed away at home on January 6, 1960 at the age of 35. She later married Gilbert R. Vaillancourt at the Holy Cross Church, Lewiston on March 14, 1975 and he passed away at the Hospice House on January 10, 2013.
Therese worked as an accounting/secretary at Bates Mill and at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for many years while living in Maine and at numerous other jobs while living in the south before her retirement. After her marriage to Gil, the couple made Florida their home, then moved to North Carolina and after a number of years returned to Florida and finally returned to Maine. She enjoyed working with Gil in his artistic interests and traveling throughout the country with him touring and visiting family. She also greatly enjoyed going to and watching hockey games. A lifelong and devoted Catholic, she had been an active member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Holy Cross Church, Lewiston and in all the parishes in the cities in which they settled.
She is survived by her nephew the Rev. Robert Alcide (Basil) Parent, Marc and Daniel Cloutier; and nieces Pauline C. Chiles, Florence C. Grenier, Irene C. Mathieu; and numerous other nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her stepchildren Daniel and Ronald Vaillancourt, Joan Steele and Joline Fournier; and numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husbands; parents; brothers Emile and Gerard Cloutier and their wives; and sisters Imelda Bouchard, Antoinette Berube, Alice Fournier Rioux, Cecile Violette, Fernande Parent and their husbands; infant sisters; and a niece, Doris B. Fournier.
Special thanks are due to all the dedicated staff at Sarah Frye Home and Hospice House for their loving care and to her family members who stayed with her in her last days especially Joline Fournier, Joan Steele, Rev. Robert A. Parent, Florence Grenier and Donald and Ginette Vaillancourt. Terry, as she was known, will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May her memory be eternal.
