WINTHROP — Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as Winthrop edged Boothbay 2-1 in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Both squads scored in the first half for a 1-1 tie at halftime. Reagan Cola recorded the Seahawks’ goal.
Goalie Jackie McLoon had 10 saves for Boothbay, while Samantha Moody only needed one to earn the win in net for the Ramblers.
Spruce Mountain 3, Dirigo 0
JAY — Hannah St. Pierre registered a goal and an assist as Spruce Mountain trekked to a 3-0 victory over Dirigo in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Allison Acritelli and Calley Baker netted first-half goals for the Phoenix.
Goalie Katie Morse made 12 saves for the Cougars. Annabelle Collins fended off a single shot to earn the win in net for Dirigo.
Madison 15, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD — Jillian Holden compiled five first-half goals as Madison rolled to a 15-1 victory over Mountain Valley in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs took an 11-0 lead at the midpoint. Sydney LeBlanc and Lauren Hay contributed two goals each for Madison, while Sydney had three assists.
Courtney Therrien found the back of the cage with 25:14 remaining in regulation to put the Falcons on the board and spoil the shutout.
Goalie Lauren Sterling made 15 saves for Mountain Valley, while Lauria LeBlanc stopped one shot to earn the win in net for Madison.
Field hockey
Poland 6, Gray-New Gloucester 0
POLAND — Hwida Nawass scored two goals as Poland blanked Gray-New Gloucester 6-0 in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights outshot the Patriots 15-3. Desiree Menard contributed a goal and two assists for Poland.
Goalie Alicia Credit made nine saves for Gray-New Gloucester, while Ashton Sturtevant turned away five shots to earn the win in net for Poland.
Spruce Mountain 11, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Sophomore Emily Castonguay notched a hat trick and Spruce Mountain jettisoned Telstar 11-0 in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.
The Phoenix (4-2) jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead. Morgan Dalton contributed a pair of goals for Spruce Mountain.
Goalie Perry Morton expunged 21 shots for the Rebels (0-7), while goalies Sydney Shaffer and Melissa Bamford did not have to repel a single shot for Spruce Mountain.
Oak Hill 5, Mt. Abram 1
SALEM — Sydney Drew tabulated two goals as Oak Hill sailed to a 5-1 victory over Mt. Abram in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
The Raiders (7-0) led 1-0 at the half.
Alice Cockerham scored the Roadrunners’ (3-4) lone goal in the second half to spoil the shutout.
Goalie Anna Dodge made three saves for Oak Hill, while Kiley Holt and Hailey Walker combined for eight saves for Mt. Abram in the losing effort.
College field hockey
Bates 2, Thomas 0
LEWISTON — The Bates field hockey team won its second straight game Tuesday evening, controlling the action from start to finish in a 2-0 victory over Thomas College.
Forward Taylor Lough figured into both of the Bobcats’ (2-3) goals, assisting on the first by Jessie Moriarty and tallying the second on a Victoria McGee assist.
The Terriers (1-5) attempted one shot, a Tiffany Weeks’ offering in the first half.
No Bates saves were necessary for goalies Adelae Durand and Alyssa Souza.
