PARIS — Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education will offer the following classes during October:

Ballroom Dancing with John Blanchette: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays for six weeks beginning Tuesday, Oct. 3. The class will feature foxtrot, rumba and swing. Tuition: $60. 

Hospice Volunteer Training with Kyla Greenwood: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays for seven weeks beginning Oct. 4. Participants will explore what hospice is, pain management and issues on death and dying. Tuition: Free. 

Drawing for Beginners with Sue Corning: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays for eight weeks beginning Oct. 5. Students will learn to use visual mode and create drawings that will communicate ideas and experiences. Tuition: $50. 

Eating Better on a Budget with Kate Goldberg: 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays for six weeks beginning Oct. 5. The series will give the skills to shop, cook and eat healthy foods while staying within a food budget. Tuition: free. 

Holy Fire Reiki with Susan Kane: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, for one evening. Participants will learn about the spiritual practice of Usui Reiki and the movement forward into Holy Fire Reiki. Tuition: $25.

Cat & Dog First Aid/CPR with Bobby Silcott: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, for one session, at the Norway Town Office. This is for the pet walker, owner, sitter, groomer, border, shelter employee/volunteer FF/EMT and police officer. Tuition, $80. 

Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets with Teresa Drag: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for two weeks beginning Tuesday, Oct. 10. Participants will create and format spreadsheets, reports, charts, do calculations within a spreadsheet, as well as using functions and formulas. Tuition: $49. 

Essential Oils – An Introduction with Mary Crane: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, for one evening. The class will show how to optimize health and well-being. Tuition, $20.

My Loved One has Alzheimers: Where Do I Start? with Amy Boivin: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, for one session at Market Square Health Care Facility, Paris. The  memory care director provides care solutions for loved one and covers resources and options. She will also answer questions about cognitive impairments like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Tuition: Free.

Stargazing Jumpstart with Terry Robinson: 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, for one session. Participants will learn constellations, all the bright stars, plus star maps to find them. Participants should bring a course packet, clipboard, pencil, paper, and a head lamp with a steady red light (non-blinking). If weather is not clear, alternate dates will be Oct. 13, 20 and 21. Tuition. $25.

College Transitions Success with Elijah Merrill: 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays for six weeks beginning  Oct. 16. Topics to be discussed are career exploration, finances and self-advocacy/motivation, study skills, technology skills, learning styles and reading efficiency and college orientation. Tuition: $29. 

Develop Happiness Habits with Susan Kane: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, for one session. Based on research from positive psychology, participants will learn simple activities that will help start being a happier person. Tuition: $25

Lyme Prevention with Nancy Watson: 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays for six weeks beginning Oct. 19. Participants will learn what Lyme Disease is, how it is transmitted and how to avoid a tick encounter. Watson will share recommended ways to remove a tick. Handouts for tick identification, informational websites and Lyme Disease support groups. Tuition: Free. 

Chalk Paint Your Furniture with Miki Earle: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, for one session. Students will learn the simple Royal Chalk four-step system and learn to create any look, vintage, cottage, antiqued, modern, in any painted color at a fraction of the cost of new cabinets. They should bring a drop cloth and a small piece of furniture or wooden craft to paint and a one-cup sample of flat low-primer paint (no chairs with spindles) and wear paint clothes and an apron. All materials provided. Tuition: $35 plus $25 material fee to be paid to the instructor.
