LEWISTON — Concert pianist and teacher David Fung will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.
The program will include works by Mozart, Villa-Lobos, Messiaen and Schubert, as well as the artist’s critically-acclaimed arrangement of Ravel’s “La Valse.”
Fung, a native of Australia, garnered international attention as a winner in two of the top five international piano competitions — the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein Piano International Masters Competition in Tel Aviv, and the 2013 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels. In Tel Aviv, he received additional awards for Best Classical Concerto and Best Performance of Chamber Music.
A gifted teacher as well as performer, Fung has given master classes around the world. He has taught piano and chamber music at Yale University and has served as artist-faculty at several summer festivals, most recently as Artist in Residence at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. He joins the faculty of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia this fall.
Admission is $15, seniors, $10, and students are free. The Franco Center is handicapped accessible. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. All proceeds to benefit the Franco Center.
