BOSTON — Michael L. Ray, 46, a resident of Greene, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lewiston on June 13, 1971, the son of Vern H. Ray and Evelyn A. (Bachelder) Ray. Michael was a 1989 graduate of Leavitt Area High School in Turner. Following high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served in the Persian Gulf War during Desert Storm, having received the South West Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He worked for Quality Glass in Lewiston.
Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Vern and Evelyn Ray of Greene; his loving companion Lynn Bernier, of Greene; his son, Caleb Ray, of Greene; his daughter, Rozlyn Ray, of Greene; a step-son, Travis Bernier, of Greene; a step-daughter(son), Jamie Lynn Bernier, of Oxford; step-grandson, Kaiden Sprague; sister, Judy Ray, of Arizona; half-brothers, Kurt Hewins, of Leeds, Kyle Hewins, of Oxford; half-sister, Terry Hewins; two special cousins, Maggie and Dan’l; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Walter J. and Vilda F Bachelder Sr;. and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Grace Ray.
