NORWAY – Dorothy “Dolly” M. MacDonald , 89, of North Waterford, formerly of Arlington, MA passed away on Monday, September 4 at Stephens Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Dorothy was born on January 27, 1928, in Boston to Albert and Hazel O’Neil Allen. She married Robert MacDonald in 1950 and lived in Arlington, MA until they moved the family to Maine in 1966. She was employed for several years at Raytheon before becoming a homemaker. Dolly was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, and cooking for friends and family. Some of her best memories were at her family’s farm in Belleisle Creek, Canada. She will be remembered fondly for her good-hearted nature, lively sense of humor and her fierce independence.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Allen of Waterford; sons, Charles and wife Linda of North Waterford; William and wife Sarah of Lovell; her stepdaughter, Helen O’Quinn of Alachua, Florida; stepson, Robert MacDonald of Effingham, NH; grandchildren, Lori Allen and Erik Laramee, Kimberly and Craig Bernero, Charles and Ginger MacDonald Jr., Morgan McAllister, Catherine MacDonald and Dalton MacDonald; great grandchildren, Kyle Bernero, Julia Bernero, Grace Bernero, Kamdyn McAllister, Jacob MacDonald, Tyrell Shepard and Orla Laramee; brother, Albert Allen; a sister, Merle McAllister; and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; sisters, Evelyn McAuliffe, Ruth Swett, Irene Trimback and Margaret McAllister; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Allen.
