LEWISTON — The Maine College of Health Professions (MCHP) graduated two nuclear medicine technology, 52 nursing, and 19 radiologic technology students in a ceremony at Lewiston Middle School.
Faculty and administration awarded associate degrees in the applied sciences of nuclear medicine technology, nursing and radiologic technology, and a number of graduating students received awards during the ceremony.
Graduates, friends and family gathered with faculty, staff, administration and honored dignitaries to celebrate commencement. MCHP President Dr. Monika Bissell welcomed the guests: Dr. Pamela Baker, chair, MCHP board of trustees; and Kay Rand, chief of staff for Sen. Angus King. The Rev. Jonathan Vogel, assistant chaplain of pastoral care at CMMC, offered the Call for Reflection and Benediction. Phil House was pianist.
Susan Poulin, faculty and coordinator of general education, served as Master of Ceremonies. Poulin introduced Kay Rand, who gave the graduation address.
Providing reflections of the class were Kersti Bayne, nuclear medicine technology student representative; Dana Hallisey, nursing class president; and Samantha Bourassa, radiologic technology class pesident.
Baker presented the MCHP Board of Trustees Award to Cheryl Morin, nursing graduate, and Emma Schalk, radiology graduate. Thes award is given to the students who demonstrate leadership qualities, display concern and understanding for others, make decisions and assume responsibility for their actions, and establish trust in their interactions with others.
Bissell presented the MCHP President’s Awards for the senior students attaining the highest academic achievements to Jennifer Mitchell, nuclear medicine technology; Lindsey Rose Maines, nursing; and Samantha Bourassa, radiologic technology.
