WAYLAND, Mass. — On Sunday, August 20, at the age of 101, Kathleen E. Finethy joined the love of her life, Carlton M. Finethy in their heavenly home. Kathleen, known to her family and friends as Keenie, was born on May 13, 1916 in Rumford, Maine to Maggie M. Frost and William B. Loggie. She grew up in Dixfield, Maine and married Carlton M. “Ki” Finethy on August 14, 1937.
In addition to caring for her family and raising two children, Keenie was an avid seamstress, knitter, quilter, doll maker and all around crafter. She sewed clothes, home accessories, wedding gowns and uniforms for the school band. Her husband, children, and grandchildren never had to look hard to find a new knitted sweater. Many of her quilts are still in use, and her dolls are displayed and admired by many. One of the joys of her life was having granddaughters visit so that they could work on another craft. Keenie loved and was much loved by her family and friends, and lead a long, happy and fruitful life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Margaret G. Harnden. She is survived by son, Milton (Carolyn) Finethy; daughter, Amelia (George) Earle; her granddaughters, Sherry (Keith) Parker, and Kristine (Kevin) Cool; her great grandchildren, Trevor and Spencer Cool, and Jason and Meagan Parker. She also leaves behind other family and friends in Rumford, Maine area and at the Orchard Hill at Sudbury Assisted Living in Massachusetts.
