WAYNE — David Webbert and James Friedman will discuss impeachment, criminal prosecution, civil rights claims and other checks on executive power in a Cary Memorial Library program that will be followed by a reception featuring wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

The event will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Cary Memorial Library’s Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.

Webbert, who lived in Wayne from 1990 to 2014, went to Harvard Law, clerked for the D.C. federal court of appeals, and specializes in employment law, civil rights and complex litigation.

Friedman is a Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Maine School of Law, where he taught constitutional law, philosophy and terrorism from 1980 to 2014. He received his JD from the University of Chicago. He focused on counter terrorism as a visiting professor at University College, Galway, and West Point, and as a visiting scholar at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are recommended.
