MINOT — The Great North Music and Arts Festival will be returning to Hemond Farms for its 5th annual event Friday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 10, at Hemond Farms, 695 Woodman Hill Road (Route 119).

This multi-night camping event is one of New England’s premier grassroots festivals and features over 100 musical, visual and performance artists over three stages, including late-night music and a “silent disco.”

Great North will also host live painting, workshops and speakers, morning yoga, freestyle motocross shows, a local farm-to-table dining experience, among other events.

Lotus  will headline this year’s event, performing two sets on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Lotus has crafted a unique musical style outside of simple genre limitations. On a given weekend the band could be the only group with guitars at an all-electronic music festival and then the next night crash a traditional rock festival with dance-heavy beats, synths and samples. Equal parts instrumental post-rock and electronic dance, the band’s distinguishing feature is an ability to maintain a decidedly unique musical voice and remain current while bucking passing trends.

The Floozies will headline Sunday night. For anyone unfamiliar, The Floozies are producer/guitarist Matt Hill and drummer Mark Hill. These two brothers are bringing their fresh approach to electronic music and live performance to venues and festivals all over the country. The duo’s combination of cutting-edge electronic production and party-rocking funk energizes crowds and turns venues into epic dance parties.

The musical lineup includes Pink Talking Fish, Kung Fu, G-Nome Project (Israel), Maine’s own Of The Trees, Zion I ft. Lespecial, BogTroTTer, CharlestheFirst, and Kitchen Dwellers.

Great North features a variety of musical genres including jam, electronic, rock ’n’ roll, bluegrass, hip-hop and reggae.  

A variety of food and craft vendors will also be onsite.
