LISBON CENTER — Geraldine L. LaChance, 99, of Lisbon Center passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 15, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Pittsfield on January 9, 1918, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Davis) Bickford. She grew up in the Pittsfield area and attended local schools there. At the age of 15, she moved to Lisbon Center where she would complete her high school education at Lisbon High School. After high school, she attended a year of business college in Springfield, Mass.

After returning home to Maine, Geraldine worked alongside her husband at the gas station and garage they owned. During that time, they started a family together. While tending to her family, Geraldine, for many years, worked at various mills as a spinner and also some of the local shoe factories.

She will always be remembered for her love of playing cards with her friends, sitting on her porch and watching the birds, dancing, going bowling, and playing the piano. She was a very generous and outgoing woman and was referred to as the “glue” that held the family together. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her four children, Larry LaChance and his wife, Sandy, of Lisbon Falls, Alan “Red” LaChance of Lisbon Center, Jack LaChance and his wife, Anne, of Sabattus, and Cynthia Waldron and her significant other, Robert Lally, of Durham. She also leaves behind two brothers, Donald Bickford of Augusta and Byron Bickford of Lisbon Center; as well as 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former spouse, Paul LaChance; her two sisters, Virginia Dyer and Shirley King; and a granddaughter, Debra LaChance.

Condolences may be shared with the family at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com.
