OXFORD — The $25 million Oxford Casino hotel is on track to open by late October or mid-November.

Jane McClay Hoyt, advertising and public relations coordinator at the Oxford Casino, said the exterior of the building is enclosed, but work continues on the four-story interior.

The final Planning Board approval for the project was given in May 2016 and groundbreaking took place shortly after.

According to David Rudzenski, a principal partner of R2Architects in Voorhees, New Jersey, who presented the plans to the Planning Board last year, the hotel will include a 34,000-square-foot, first-floor public area and lobby. The second, third and fourth floors will have slightly more than 100 guest rooms and some suites.

According to information from Churchhill Downs Inc., owners of the Oxford Casino at the time of the May 2016 groundbreaking, construction of the hotel and banquet space represented the second time CDI invested in and expanded the Oxford facility since purchasing the property in July 2013.

The facility has more than 400 workers and is the largest employer in the town. The hotel construction and casino expansion that was part of the overall project approved in May 2016 was expected to create 60 new full-time positions and an estimated 1,000 temporary construction jobs.

The hotel will connect to the town’s new municipal sewer system.
