The Wicked Wednesday program presents “The Big House Fire,” at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the All Souls Chapel.

It’s been over 40 years since the Poland Spring House burned on July 3, 1975. James Aikman, former news director for WMTW, Channel 8, stood on the porch of the Presidential Inn (formerly the Riccar Inn) while doing a live broadcast of the fire. WMTW recently donated these films to the Preservation Society which was able to restore and edit the 3½-hour fire film into a more manageable time frame.

A suggested donation is $5 will benefit the Poland Spring Preservation Society. Water and cookies will be provided.
