LEWISTON — Two people have been bitten by a fox in two days and Lewiston police are urging people in the area to be cautious.
Police said the first report came in Thursday about fox that had bitten someone on Hackett Street in Lewiston. The second call about a fox bite came from Willow Circle.
The police department said on Facebook that the animal is believed to have a face full of porcupine quills.
Police are urging people in the area to beware of an aggressive, possibly rabid fox and to watch their pets while outside. Any sightings should be reported to the Lewiston Police Department or the Maine Warden’s Service.
If the fox is spotted, it should not be approached. Sightings can be reported to Lewiston police at 784-6421, ext. 1 or the Maine Warden Service at 657-3030.
