PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine’s U.S. senators say a provider in the state is getting more than $5 million in federal funding for Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
Republican Sen. Susan Collins and independent Sen. Angus King say Community Concepts Inc. will receive nearly $5.2 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Community Concepts has Head Start locations in Oxford and Franklin counties.
Head Start encourages school readiness and promotes health, nutritional and social services for preschoolers and their families.
