Hebron Academy student-athletes Tyler Swanbeck of Hebron, Christian Quinones of Bangor, and Michael Tahiru of Accra, Ghana won the US Club Soccer National Premier Cup with the Seacoast United Maine Club out of Topsham.
Teams from across the United States were represented in the 2017 National Cup, which took place in Westfield, Indiana. The Seacoast United Maine Club competed in the highly competitive 18/19-U boys’ national premier league. To cap off an unquestionably successful season that included winning the 2017 Maine State Cup at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, the Seacoast United Club with help from Swanbeck, Quinones, and Tahiru, took home the 2017 US National Premier Club Soccer Cup.
“The US National Premier Club Cup win is a team victory all the way — the Club played as such a cohesive unit. Everyone has worked hard all year and this is a satisfying way to finish the season,” Swanbeck said.
Swanbeck, Quinones, and Tahiru are all rising seniors at Hebron Academy and play soccer for the Lumberjacks. During the 2016-2017 Hebron season, the Lumberjacks were undefeated and won the New England Prep School Athletic Council Championship. Tahiru and Quinones are already committed to Lehigh University and Wesleyan University respectively. Swanbeckis also looking to play soccer at the collegiate level.
