LISBON — Councilors and audience members congratulated the Lisbon Boy’s U12 All-Star Team for their win at the Cal Ripken State Championship at the beginning of Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting.

This is the second year in a row the team has won the title.

“Lisbon’s program continually reigns among the best,” Town Clerk Twila Lycette said.

Councilors also voted to adopt the findings of fact, conclusion of law and order to secure a dangerous structure on 10 Congress St. in Lisbon.

This structure poses a fire hazard, Code Enforcement Officer Dennis Douglass said. The trash and debris invites rodents in, it is unsanitary, and a child can become hurt by the property, he said.

The building has since collapsed and the owners attempted to burn down the structure, but debris still remains.

“We let it go for a long time,” Douglass said.

In other business:

• Nomination papers for the November 2017 annual municipal election are now available and need to be submitted by Sept. 11 by 6 p.m.

• Heather Curtis was appointed to the Recreation Committee.

“I would like to become more of a member of the community and give back to where I live,” Curtis said.

The next council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Lisbon Town Office.
