NAPLES — A man and child were transported to a Portland hospital Saturday afternoon after the vehicle the man was driving crashed and rolled over due to a mechanical issue on Route 302, according to Chief Deputy Naldo Gagnon of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m.
Jason Grimes, 42, of South Casco was driving a blue Jeep westbound on Route 302 when either the transmission or rear end locked up, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which rolled over, according to police.
Grimes was thrown from the vehicle. His young daughter, whose name and age have not been released, was secured in a child safety seat and remained in the vehicle during the crash.
Grimes was transported to Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening. His daughter was also transported to that hospital with no known injuries.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office officials, along with Naples and Raymond emergency personnel, responded to the scene.
