LEWISTON — Lewiston police have blocked East Avenue between Webster and Green streets to deal with an afternoon crash involving a box truck and a Nissan Altima.

Police said the woman driving the Altima had non-life threatening injuries and would be taken to the hospital. The truck driver was not injured.

Officer Garrett Clarke said the truck driver was turning left onto Highland Avenue when he cut in front of the woman driving the Altima. Clarke said the woman couldn’t stop in time.

The names of the drivers were not immediately available.

The woman was stuck in her car for a short period of time, Clarke said. An off-duty nurse or EMT stopped at the crash to help the woman until police and an ambulance could arrive. She left shortly afterward without giving her name.

“I don’t know where the EMT went, but it was nice having her around,” Clarke said.
