FARMINGTON — Summer is a crowded time of year at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

To adopt out animals, the shelter is offering a $25 donation fee for adult cats through Monday, July 31. The shelter is also seeking donations of scooping cat litter and Purina Cat Chow.

This week’s Cat of the Week is Reese, 1- to 3-year-old female. She’s a people-lover, but she not a fan of other cats. She hopes to find a home quickly and get away from the crowded kitty room.

Mason and Dawson are the Dogs of the Week. They were surrendered as a pair when their owner lost everything in a house fire. Mason is 2 years old, and Dawson is 6, and the male dogs are of mixed breeding. Dawson’s eyesight requires daily tender love and care.  Both dogs are good with kids and cats. Dawson is good with other dogs; however, Mason is selective about his canine companions — except Dawson, whom he loves.

The dogs have lived together since Mason was born, and they hope to stay together. To accommodate this, the shelter is charging only one adoption fee for the pair.

Reese, Mason, Dawson and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
