Animal shelter seeks litter, cat food
FARMINGTON — Summer is a crowded time of year at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
To adopt out animals, the shelter is offering a $25 donation fee for adult cats through Monday, July 31.
The shelter is also seeking donations of scoopable cat litter and Purina Cat Chow.

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and older from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Wilton CareerCenter, 865 U.S. Route 2E.

Farmers market in Wayne
WAYNE — The Wayne Farmers Market is in its ninth season and is open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Labor Day weekend on Main Street adjacent to the post office.
Growers and producers will bring a wide variety of local food items, and there will be live music and cooking demonstrations using food from the vendors. Shoppers can arrive by canoe or kayak, since the market is on Mill Pond at the outlet of Pocasset Lake.
Make it on Mondays making bread
PARIS — This month’s Make it on Mondays at the Paris Public Children’s Library will offer a family Story Time and a bread-making activity.
This event will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31.
Following the story, “Hooray for Bread” by Allan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman, participants will measure their own wet and dry bread ingredients into a plastic bag, mix it and knead it in the plastic bag, form it into a loaf in bread tins, and take it home to rise and bake.
