LEWISTON — Julien “Jules” Beaulieu, 95, of Lewiston, died peacefully Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home, after living a long and full life.
He was born in Blue River, Canada, on July 20, 1921, son of the late Nazaire and Helena Beaulieu. He was educated in local schools and joined the U.S. Army in 1941, becoming a member of the 243rd, where he was a truck driver and later drove a tank while fighting in World War II.
He married his sweetheart, Gilberte “Gibby” Rioux, on July 4, 1946. Jules worked at the Lewiston Lumber Yard for 18 years, before following his passion and becoming a dairy farmer. He loved working outdoors and took pride in his cows, giving each one a name. He also enjoyed fishing, going on senior citizen trips, attending Army reunions and reminiscing with his siblings.
He leaves behind a daughter, Jeanne Beaulieu; a son, Roger Beaulieu and his wife, Pat, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Scott Laberge and his wife, Kim, of Lewiston, Jennifer Hazen and her husband, Derrick, of Massachusetts, Mack Beaulieu and his companion, Kelly Beauregard, Nicole Beaulieu and Neil Beaulieu, all of Lewiston; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Bobbie Lafrance, whom he thought of as a son; and a sister, Bertha.
Jules was predeceased by his wife, Gibby; and son, Norman Beaulieu; three sisters; and one brother.
Jules belonged to Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus and was a strong believer in his faith and thought highly of the Virgin Mary.
His family would like to thank Father Albert Roux for giving Julies his last rites. They would also like to thank Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, Interim Healthcare (especially Sherry Kennedy), Togus and all those who provided him with companionship in his later years.
