AUBURN — Community Little Theatre will hold auditions for “Sister Act” at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, July 16 and 17, at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 34 Main St.
Performance dates are Oct. 20-28.
The musical comedy is based on the hit 1992 film of the same name. When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she will not be found: a convent. Disguised as a nun, and under the suspicious watch of the uptight Mother Superior, Deloris uses her unique disco moves and singing talent to help her fellow sisters find their voices, while unexpectedly rediscovering her own.
Those interested in auditioning are asked to prepare two contrasting musical theater selections of their choice, and participate in cold readings from the script. Vocal selections do not need to be from the show, and should be no longer than 16-32 bars.
Individuals are asked to bring sheet music in the correct key, and a list of potential scheduling conflicts. A rehearsal calendar and accompanist will be provided. Both the vocal and cold reading portion of the audition will be closed.
All individuals may be asked to participate in a dance audition at the choreographer’s discretion. Individuals should wear flat, comfortable shoes, and clothing that allows them to move freely. There is no need for women to wear heels or character shoes at this time.
