AUBURN — Harold L. “Harry” Galarneau, 69, of Boody Brook Lane in Dixfield, passed away on Friday, June 23, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Rumford on December 2, 1947, a son of William R. and Zula M. (Wheeler) Galarneau.

Harry was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1966, and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Marines.

He was employed for 28 years with the Rumford Paper Mill and was a member of its 25-year club.

Harry enjoyed four-wheeling, gardening, gambling, sun-worshipping and daily coffee with his best friend, Bob, and the coffee crew at Ellis’. His greatest passion was hunting.

Harry was an avid Dirigo sports fan and coached numerous youth athletic teams.

Survivors include his wife, Sue McPhee of Dixfield; children, Erica Blodgett and husband, Timothy, of Peru, Sean and wife, Tammy, of Kinston, N.C., Micky Dyer and husband, Brad, of Carthage, Tammy Daigle and companion, Greg DeSalle, of Rumford, Alicia Welch of Dixfield, and Danielle Afari and husband, Nana, of Turner; brother, Peter Galarneau and wife, Susan, of Ruther Glen, Va.; grandchildren, Timothy, Nicholas and Curtis Blodgett, Bailey and Jesse Dyer, Nicole and Carly Welch, Benjamin DeSalle and Noah and Owen Afari; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Brayden Blodgett; and the mother of his children, Caralie Sastamoine.

Harry was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Lennie.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and medical staff that cared for Harry, with special thanks to the staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
