LEWISTON — The Build a Better World Children’s Summer Reading Program will kick off on Friday, June 23, in the Lewiston Public Library Children’s Department.
To participate in the program, children will need to read two hours a week, and at the end of each week, they will get a small prize, with the possibility of even bigger raffle prizes, such as soccer balls, Legos and chemistry sets. Those who read all eight weeks will receive a special prize at the end of the summer.
The library will host the following free programs and events at Callahan Hall, beginning at 11 a.m.:
• Friday, June 23: Matt Loosigian, storyteller and musician.
• Monday, June 26: Dana Perkins, ventriloquist and magician.
• Saturday, July 1: Sparks’ Ark with animals.
• Monday, July 10: Antonin Rocha, storyteller.
The library will give out tickets on the third floor in advance. Those who have tickets will get into Callahan Hall first.
