LEWISTON — Creative Artisans of Maine at Provencher’s has announced it upcoming Festival of Learning events. Creative Artisans of Maine is a select group of local artists/craftspeople in one location to provide an arts & crafts-fair experience.
All classes will be held at Provencher’s Landscape and Nursery, 299 River Road.
Parchment craft, also known as Pergamano: Series of three beginner classes run from 1 to 3 p.m. May 27, June 3 and 10. The cost is $25 each.
Parchment craft is the art of embellishing and decorating parchment paper through the use of techniques such as embossing, perforating, stippling, cutting and coloring. Tools and supplies will be provided.
Once participants have learned basic techniques, they can continue developing the craft in an advance weekly two-hour card class held every Saturday after 1. Cost is $12 a class taught by certified pergamano instructor, Martha Levesque.
A demonstration of the craft will be held from noon to 2 p.m.
Style Show: From 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, presentation of Simply Vana’s beachwear line of clothing. Some materials are woven in Maine and all clothing is made in Maine. Simply Vana’s clothing will be paired up jewelry by Kathryn Beausang, Riverwalk Studios. Free and open to the public.
Acrylic Painting: Class six weeks from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, starting June 9. Learn techniques from painting teacher Anita Poulin of Geenwood Gallery. Beginners or experienced painters welcome. Cost $120, some supplies will need to be purchased.
Jewelry-Making: Tree of Life from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10. Attendees will learn wire wrapping techniques, taking home a Tree of Life pendant using copper, jeweler’s brass, or plated copper wire and natural gemstone chips or colored crystals. Instructor is Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems. Cost: $45, all tools/supplies included.
Succulent Terrarium: From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10. Succulents are low maintenance plants. Cost: $25. All tools and supplies included. Class will be taught by Celeste Yakawonis, Party’n With Plants Maine.
Potion Class for Kids: From 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10. The “fairy tale” make and take workshop is targeted for kids 3 months to age 12 with an adult. Kids get to make their choice of potions while adults learn about the benefits of essential oils. Everyone will go home with the potion of their choice and a coloring page. Instructor will be Cheryl Horton, Life in the Raw, Cost: $15, all supplies included.
Jewelry-Making for Kids: From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10. They will learn how to make a macrame friendship bracelet, which they will take home. Instructor: Lisa Marshall, 2 Blue Gems. Cost: $15, all tools/supplies included.
Kids’ Fairy Garden: From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10. All supplies and tools included to make a low maintenance succulent fairy garden to take home. Cost: $25. Instructor: Celeste Yakawonis, Party’n With Plants Maine.
Intro to Upholstery: Tuesdays, June 20, 27 and July 11. Learn how to perform basic upholstery. Some work will need to be completed outside the class. Instructor: Stephanie Mahr, Refresh. Cost: $60. Some tools and supplies will be provided.
Smoothie Class: From 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24. Make three different smoothies and talk about the benefits of smoothies. Instructor: Cheryl Horton, Life in the Raw. Cost: $20, all supplies included.
