I am writing to express my gratitude to the Auburn Police Department. Recently, I had my first run-in with a deer near Young’s Corner in Auburn. After the hit, the deer looked to be in great pain. With tears running down my cheeks, I reached for my phone and called 911.
The dispatcher was very calm and tried to console me. Meanwhile, a young man in his truck stopped to see if I was OK. He also talked to me and kept me somewhat calm.
Soon, a policeman arrived and put the deer out of its misery.
The young man said, “Good-bye” and I thanked him and off he went. I would like to let him know how appreciative I was for his kindness and patience.
Once he left, the officer took over in a caring and polite manner. He kept asking me if I was “OK.”
I drove home, but started to tear up every time the event played back in my mind.
I had two of the kindest and concerned men help me that evening. A grateful thank you to both of them.
The phone rang the next day, and it was a sergeant from the Auburn Police calling to check on me.
We are so lucky to have the police force that we do here in Auburn.
